Sleepy And Sleepless Monday

Monday felt like watching an eight-hour, boring movie marathon. Amidst downing 3 mugs of coffee and 3 cups of tea, I was still fighting to stay awake. It felt as if someone magically made caffeine ineffective. When you're desperate to get some sleep, even the silliest thoughts seemed to make sense - just when I thought of crawling underneath my desk just to get an hour or two shut-eye; I didn't. I tried walking, jumping in the copying room, and stretching. When 5:30 PM arrived, I was out the door and was looking forward to going home and sleeping early.

Well, it's almost 10 PM and there's no hint of sleep at all - not even the tiniest. Just like my other sleepless nights, I am spending quality time with the Internet browsing topics on free debt consolidation resource, tax deductions, and the six secrets of living longer.

  1. Your post made me want to curl up in bed too, he he. I don't know but for me coffee is not the waker-upper that it used to be. Now I drink coffee before bedtime if I really want to sleep.

  2. My trick for staying awake at work is that I take 10-15 minute naps in my car during my breaks. ;-) Although that could be a problem if one takes public transportation to work.

  3. We normally have this Monday sickness at work. (Well, it's Sunday sickness in UAE.) Strange though is just when we thought and planned we're gonna hit the bed as soon as we're home, sleep is hard to catch naman no?

Tips to live longer. I'll research, too. =)

  6. Anna, I think at some point our bodies get used to coffee. This is why it doesn't work anymore...sigh.

Wil, I take the train every day, but that's a great suggestion for people who have cars.

Wits, It's frustrating when this happens because I really start getting annoyed for not getting sleep...and that makes my situation much worse. It's funny because one of the tips to live longer was to get 8 hours of sleep...lol.

Sheng, Let's. We should just skip work totally...=)

Kg, Ewan ko ba why things like this happen. Nakakainis.

  7. coffee has always been a downer for me. the more i drink, the more i get sleepy. espresso became an addiction but i guess i was just kept awake for the first 3 tries for the thought that it's got more caffeine, kkk... but now, it couldn't also keep me awake.

power naps are really "powerful".. when you're sleepy, avoid caffeine but get 10-15 minutes nap when you feel most sleepy. don't drink coffee. so that when it's time to really sleep, you can have the sleep you've been wanting the whole day to have...
