The Beach

This is a guest post by my friend Washington York.

My favorite place to be in the summer is the beach. I don't go to one of those overcrowded nasty tourist beaches. I go to a beach that is almost deserted. The place I go isn't over run by body boarders and families. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I just like my privacy a little more than that. I like to be able to walk down the beach without running into a dog or small child. When I go to the beach, I stay for the whole day. I pack a book, set my adt security system, and head out. I spend the day reading in the privacy of a Washington coast beach. When I get sick of reading, I wander. This beach is like no other beach I have ever been to. If I wanted to, I could pick up one hundred sand dollars in under three minutes. There are sea shells all over. These aren't the kind of seashells that are cracked and broken. These are huge, beautiful seashells. This beach isn't picked over like many of the other beaches I have been to. Granted, the water is a little bit cold, but that doesn't bother me. I just enjoy the sound of the ocean and the quietness that I can always find on my favorite beach. My favorite part happens on the day that I stay until the sun goes down. The sunset at this beach is breath taking. When I do finally leave the beach, I feel rejuvenated and ready to start my life again. It is for sure my favorite place to be in the summer time, and any other time of year for that matter.
