September 11

let us remember
where we were
where we were going
what we were doing

let us pause for a few moments
to remember
the first responders
for those who didn't make it home that night

whether in NY, PA or across the Potomac River

we will never forget

  1. Were you near the Pentagon at the time? You must have some stories if you were in DC during that time.
    I have visited the Twin Towers in 1998. I never went up the buildings though. I just stayed in the plaza area or ground level.

  5. In response to where I was on that day, I was at McCarran airport in Las Vegas en route to Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was early in the morning when I was about to board my flight, when the announcement came that a plane just crashed through one of the Twin Towers in NY. I was in shock, as I was then living in New Jersey and a few of my friends commute to NY to work. I didn't know what to think. All flights were grounded that day. In addition, we were rushed out of the Las Vegas airport due to a bomb threat. It was crazy and deeply sad as I remember it. I was forced to stay in Las Vegas for a day or two.

    At that time when one of the Twin Towers collapsed to the ground, my sister-in-law and a friend were attending a wedding in the area. They started running, holding hands so that they won't get separated, the last thing my sister-in-law heard was a loud crash and thick smoke of dust, they got separated, she lost her friend that day. My sister-in-law woke up at a hospital three days after.

  6. That was scary, Kayni. I can imagine that as you were writing your response to our comments, it's as if the story just happened yesterday. Take care always.
