Our Fourth Wedding Anniversary

IMG_1634
Thank you for the beautiful yellow daisies and card.
Happy fourth wedding anniversary, my dear Kepi!

We've been through a lot - from my diagnosis, clinical trial appointments, transfusions, hospital stays, the search for my bone-marrow donor, my most awaited transplant to recovery - but you never left my side.

We are facing another test, but I know we will get through it TOGETHER. As you always say, "We're gonna be alright."

Love you always,
Kayni

Every year during our wedding anniversary week, it's been our tradition to visit where we got married, the Hershey Gardens, and visit the blooming tulips as well.  You see, we timed our wedding date during the peak bloom of the tulips. This year, we missed the peak bloom but we still saw a lot of flowers.

My heart always skips a beat when we're here. This is exactly the location of our wedding venue. We had a small, simple and beautiful wedding. Surrounded by a few family, friends and crowded by all the tulips in full bloom.

Tulips

At this time of year, the Hershey Gardens abound with all types and colors of Tulips.

In my previous post, I've stated why we trek here annually.  In fact, even before Kepi and I got married, we frequented this place.  I guess, Hershey Gardens will always be extra special to us.

I can't name them all, but they're all equally beautiful.

It was a warm, sunny day. Too warm for spring weather, but the Tulips seemed to enjoy and take delight in it.

Celebrating Our Second Anniversary

On May 3rd, Kepi and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary.

We decided that for our yearly anniversary celebration, we'd visit the place where we got married - Hershey Gardens. There are three reasons why: (1) the place means so much to us; (2) the tulips and cherry blossoms are in bloom, just like the day we got married; and, (3) we "always" visit the Hershey chocolate factory for sweet treats.

My Imagination

couple and rose

Like sun worshipers, the beautiful roses basked in the summer heat while flower fairies alighted from each bloom rejoicing in every pollen sticking to their wings and tiny feet.

It was a busy day.

The fairies fluttered their wings sprinkling color on every flower, stretching every crooked petal, gently opening those that are not bloomed, collecting buckets of fresh dew while the others sat on the leaves playing music.

The whimsical world seem to exist on its own, unaware and unknowing that two people are sealing their love amongst the roses.

Hershey Gardens In Full Bloom

At this time of year, there are "5,600 roses representing 275 different varieties" in bloom at the Hershey Gardens. Last year, we missed their peak bloom, so this year, we made sure we got there in time to see their full beauty. The roses of Hershey Gardens did not disappoint.

I feasted my eyes at all the beauty and colors. With a camera in tow, I felt like a bee attracted to each bloom, snapping and focusing at every angle. I felt greedy that I wanted to freeze each beauty and wish they'd last for eternity. The air was filled with their sweet floral fragrance and it was like magic - my worries felt so faraway.

I hope these photos I took would bring some color and joy to your day as well.

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon-instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today. (Dale Carnegie)

Chasing Cherry Blossoms

This recent weekend, Kepi and I drove to Hershey Gardens (Pennsylvania). We were expecting to see the Tulips in full bloom, but we were met with the spring cheers of Cherry Blossoms, Dogwoods, Plum Blossoms and other flowers instead. Although the Tulips haven't bloomed yet, we enjoyed the company of these blooming trees. After the Cherry Blossoms spectacular bloom in DC and MD, we were in time for their full bloom at Hersheys. It was as if, we were chasing Cherry Blossoms. Next stop, New York and maybe New Jersey.
