Vegas In February

I'm still nursing this annoying sinusitis, but it has gotten better since I finished my five day antibiotics treatment. I hope that I'll feel normal in a couple of days, as spring seem to have sprung here quite early. Today feels like 50 degrees and I don't know if I should be excited or sad since this might mean summer will be freakin' hot.  But while my mind ponders about spring and summer, I can't help but miss being on vacation.  Visiting Vegas recently bestirred my love for travel.  Last year, I took several months off from traveling due to my aplastic anemia treatment, but now, I can't stop thinking about exploring another city, state or country.  For now, I have places to visit swirling on my mind.

Here's a photo I took in Las Vegas this month. I think photography at night in Vegas is more enticing than at daytime. The place seems dead at daytime anyway and you'd be awed at how the city comes alive at night. Also, I've been in Vegas at several times of the year, and the best seasons to go are in spring and winter. It was really cool and nice when we were there, and it's so much nicer to walk around The Strip without being drenched in sweat.

There'll be more photos of Vegas to come. I'm just thinking where to travel to next.

Short Update

Just a short update today.

It's a busy season for me and barely have the time to blog or even visit blogs. Although I've noticed as well that some of the blogs I regularly visit are on some sort of hiatus. It must be the season of "no blogging." Sometimes, I feel that I am losing my interest in blogging. Anyway, I hope this feeling is temporary, and I'll soon get back on my blogging rhythm.

Well, what's going on, on my side of the woods:
  • We got back from Vegas last week. I'll post some pics soon as I haven't had time to sort our photos yet. We had a great time and it was wonderful to see my dad.
  • On the same week we came back from vacation, I got sick and now nursing an annoying sinus infection.
  • The result of my recent blood work didn't make me happy. My platelets are down to 34. I was at 37 last month. I keep wondering how long I can take this roller coaster ride with this aplastic anemia.
  • I'm working on a book review for my Immigration Class and a short paper for my American Literature Class.
  • I just spent two hours at the dentist's chair to have my teeth fixed. It felt like torture.
I hope everyone's doing well.

What I've Been Working On

Phew! I never knew it would be this challenging to put up a small Etsy Shop. I've been spending hours taking photos, tweaking product descriptions, setting up Twitter, Facebook and a blog for the shop and more. To be honest, I never knew it would be this time consuming and effort demanding. Do I regret opening one? No, because I found a new love - beading. I'm getting ideas all the time, but the trick is finding the time to make jewelry while still having a full-time job and attending grad school in the evenings. I usually browse ideas on site like Meijer that have similar bracelets.

Anyway, let's see where this Etsy Shop will take me.

I've added a couple necklaces this week, so if you're interested, do check them out and let me know what you think.

The blog for my Etsy Shop is called Kayni's Kreations.

And here's my new improved shop:

DC's Kennedy Center

I rarely feature DC in my blog, yet I adore this city. It's the city where I attended college, started on my own and where I got my first job right after graduating from the university. DC has been kind to me, and I'll never forget that. Although the city can be unkind with overcrowded trains, non-working escalators, stinky metro stations and pissed passengers, I try to look at the brighter side of the city. It's hard, but I try anyway.

Although DC is known to be the city where everyone works and at the end of day, workers do a mass exodus back to the suburbs, the city has a lot to offer. One of them is my favorite place to see musicals and opera acts, the Kennedy Center.

This is the Opera House. I've seen several shows here such as Les Miserables, Madam Butterfly and Wicked.

Taken on the day we saw Les Miserables.

New York's Lady Liberty

I just got back from Vegas last night and here I am back to work the next day. Back to the grind as they say. Vegas was great and the weather was perfect and spring like. I wish we could have stayed longer, but vacations have to end and we must go back to our daily life. The highlight of my trip was seeing my dad. After not spending the Christmas holidays in Hawaii, it was great to have some time with him.

Anyway, as I sort through my Vegas photos. I'll post more photos of my New York visit last year.

A nice walk approaching the Liberty State Park.

I love how the trees were changing colors as the city serves as a backdrop.

I like New York City from a distance.

The historic Hudson.

It was a nice, crisp autumn day as we sailed along the Hudson.

A powerful image as our ferry approached Liberty Island.

At last we meet, Lady Liberty.

New York's Rockefeller Center

One of the highlights of my visit to New York City during the fall of last year is visiting the Rockefeller Center. I think it's one of the best places to view the city. We probably stayed up there for an hour or more because the view was spectacular.

Resting and enjoying fall in New York City.
