My Christmas Tree
Here it is, my very own six feet, slim pine Christmas tree which I've been working on since Thursday of last week. I was so happy when I finally got the ornaments and lights together today. There's only 22 real ornaments hanging there and the rest are edible. There are mint candy canes and rounded, hollow milk chocolate ornaments. I decided to use more edible ornaments as it's easier to eat them instead of storing them after the holidays. I know, it's so silly of me. Anyway, I thought it was a cute idea to be able to pluck a chocolate ornament whenever I feel like it or nibble a candy cane after a meal. After all, it's the holiday season. The toys underneath - kissing puppies, gingerbread tin can and penguin - were presents from friends last year. As you can see, I have also started with my list and wrapped a couple of presents. I know that there are a lot of people struggling this year due to the global recession, but I am going to do my best to spread a little cheer to the people around me. I encourage everyone to spread joy and love not just this season but every single day. Let's make our world a better place.

I don't know why, but after reading this post (especially seeing the photo) I'm teary-eyed. Made me miss being home so much. Our tree also consists of 75% edible ornaments.
ReplyDeleteNormally, we have a theme for each year. The way we decorate it is too personal. We work on it like a family tree. I remember when I was in elementary, we put red apples. The number of apples = number of family members. The first two biggest apples were placed in the bottom and the names of my grandparents were indicated in the apple itself. So on up to the top. You can imagine how heavy and "bizarre" the tree is. =)
This year I deferred buying a christmas tree for our abode in Abu Dhabi since we'll be spending the holidays at home. But probably next year, I'll pull it. Thanks for sharing your lovely tree. =)
Wow! I haven't thought of putting edible ornaments. I think it's a great idea...just eat it after the Christmas season and no more storing! :)
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for the idea of putting on edibles on your Christmas tree... I have mine up - but I'll add some sweet stuff starting December instead :) My usband might eat everything off the tree - he has a sweet tooth! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteYum yum Christmas tree! Hehehe... Yep, do spread the cheer. Advance Merry Christmas! :)
ReplyDeleteit's cute..a lot better than my small christmas tree...kkkk...and at least you get to eat the ornaments...kkkk....take care
ReplyDeleteWits, I hope my photo didn't make you miss home too much. I think that it's the bizarre things that we hang on the tree, that makes the tree a real holiday tree.
ReplyDeleteKg, Oh yes, edible ornaments are the way to go =).
Gigi, I'm glad you liked the idea. I can't wait to see your tree with all the ornaments.
Layad, Thank you. Merry Christmas too.
Cheryle, Oh, I'm sure your tree is cute too.
I love the idea of putting on edibles there, I can do it too, thanks kayni, and yes, we must spread love not only this christmas!
ReplyDeleteSheng, Yes, edible ornaments are quite fun. When I was kid, my siblings and I used to buy a bag of all sorts of candies, tie some strings and hang 'em on the tree.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence, my mom texted me a while ago instructing me to buy some edible stuffs for our tree, so I bought candies and chocolates (that will be given to little kids who will visit us this 25th).
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharng the Christmas spirit. This reminds me to start wrapping now! :)
jeanny, Oh yes, you have to start wrapping now. I still have a few people left on my list, but hopefully, I'll be done with the shopping this coming weekend.
ReplyDeleteI don't think edible ornaments will last long in our house. For sure, my toddler will have a feast everyday! Hehehe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharng your tree :)
