Taken at Reykjavik in January 2020.

Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Karen, but my family and friends call me "Kayni". I named my blog "Kayni's Corner Cafe" because I'd love to manage my own cafe/coffee shop someday. My posts are mainly on my life with Kepi, my family and my love for travel.

I was born in the Philippines but my family and I moved to the US in 1996. I now reside in Maryland with Kepi and our dog, Lulu. Unfortunately our dog, Daisy, and cat, Dizzy passed away a few years ago.

In 2006, I was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. I spent about eight years going through different clinical trials and surviving through numerous transfusions. On New Year's Day of 2014, I was admitted at Johns Hopkins to begin my bone-marrow transplant. I went through ATG, chemo therapy and full-body radiation. On January 11, I finally received my donor's bone-marrow.

I am recovering but dealing with a mild skin graft-vs-host disease. I was doing very well until I got hit with Shingles in late February 2015.

I love traveling, photography and baking when time permits.  I'm a Sanrio fan and a certified chocoholic.

Blogging started out as a hobby and it still is. I write mostly on travel and anything that would come to mind. I don't usually plan what I write. I write when the inspiration hits me.

One of my posts, Outside Looking In, won Top 3 Outstanding Blog and Outstanding Blog in Central America and Canada.

If you'd like to contact me or ask me anything, please e-mail me at misskayniatgmaildotcom.
