Spring Is Here!

The warm weather started this recent Easter weekend. Although we still have the possibility of getting frost until April 19th, that didn't stop us from tackling some garden projects.

Kepi and I worked on the little garden around our mailbox and started on a new garden on the side of the house. I got the idea for the side garden from Better Homes and Gardens, so I'm really hoping it will really look close to the illustration below.

The challenging task is hunting for the specific plants needed. Really, I'm quite excited with this garden project. I have also started my seedlings for the vegetable garden, so our yard will be busy for the spring and summer seasons.

Well, Daisy went for a bath and grooming a week ago. The pet salon gave her a bandana and I just thought she looked adorable.

Looks like Daisy got a cape from the salon. This photo makes me chuckle every time I look at it.

Are you ready to cuddle?

For now, I have two weeks left of grad school and a research paper to finish, so I have to keep pushing though.

What are your plans or projects for the spring or summer?

  3. When you're doing a research paper you need a garden project, to keep you sane:) Two weeks left of this year, or are you at the end of grad school? My grad school was 20 years in the past, but it probably stays with me for the rest of my life (the good and the bad)! Keep pushing!

  4. As it is every year in spring, we plan on keeping the yard in shape - it has never been ever since we bought the house, and just like the house, the yard was neglected by the elderly couple that used to own the property. Understandable because of their age they can no longer maintain a house and a yard. Over the years we've been slowly trying to do something about it, although we have no concrete plans on how to make the garden work for us.

We're getting rain, not much, but better than nothing. Take care.

    1. I do hope you'll get that yard in shape :). That's our project this spring and summer.

I do hope you get more rain. I heard the drought there is bad.

  5. Looks like you will have a lovely side garden. I find this time of year very busy with trying to get the patio furniture cleaned, the patio pavers cleaned, the container and regular garden planted. I'm always behind and just when I get ready it rains! A lot! So my garden is a bit late again. I'm not much of a gardening truth be told but I do like looking at all the nicer greenery and flowers. I hope you can find all the seedlings and starter plants you need.

    1. Thank you. I do hope you'll get that patio in shape. I've always loved gardening. Even when I was living in a townhome with a little yard, I managed to have a small vegetable garden. I think working with plants and the soil is great for the soul.

  7. I also have one term paper and another research paper to finish for this semester. And once I go back home, I am tasked to prune the roses.. Not really a fan of the gardens, but I had been wanting to learn and being out of work for now, its a good time give it a try :D :D

    1. I have never pruned roses. I've never tried growing them either.

Keep pushing and get those term paper and research paper done :).

  8. This is a neat photo and I have something in common with Daisy. I'm also a Cuddler :-) It's a volunteer position at one of our big hospitals where I rock little newborn babies when the nurses and/or parents are not able to hold them. I would recommend this job to anyone!

  10. That's a cute, cool neon cape! I am busy with grad school as well. Funny though that just when it's the craziest time, the more I have been fueled to go back to blogging. And I miss visiting your 'home' in the blogosphere!
