Skywatch at Kalaupapa Peninsula

King Kamehameha V banished all those afflicted with Hansen's disease (Leprosy) to this isolated Kalaupapa peninsula in Molokai. This is where Father Damien came, served and lived in the settlement until he also contracted and succumbed to the disease.

This is my entry for Skywatch Friday.

    1. I love Molokai. It's so quiet there and not a lot of traffic. It's a good place to relax and unwind. I hope you'll visit in the future.

  2. What a fantastic view dear Kayni! Thank you so much also for sharing the story behind it, it's a sad one but needs to be known and remembered.

  3. Sigh. I miss being there. Maui felt like home to me. I am sure Molokai would touch my heart and soul the same way. Be safe.
